Oh, that's right!

For a while there I totally forgot I had a six month old and shouldn't be sleeping through the night, every night.

Thanks for the hourly reminders, Bree!

You're lucky you're cute or Mama would be super grumpy today!

I'm totally "THAT LADY"

You know, the one who says "Congratulations!" to you as you walk by with your adorable baby bump.  The one who looks longingly at you with your infant, and totally creeps you out with just a smile.  The one who can't help but say "Enjoy, it goes by so fast!" as you roll your eyes. The one who you wish would just leave you alone because really, you've heard it all before and yeah, yeah, yeah you get it.

I know this, because just six short months ago I WAS you.

And now, somehow, I've become THAT lady.  It happened so slowly I never saw it coming.  I had no idea it was happening to me.  One day I heard myself say "Congrats!" to a lady as I held open a door for her, I had an out of body experience and realized...

...IT HAD HAPPENED. To me?!?!

The moment I had dreaded.  Swore would never come.  It was here.

And I could not care less.

You see, six months ago I went into labor with a whole lot of ideas and judgments.  I very quickly found that babies don't give a poop about your ideas, they do what they want.

I was going to have a natural, unmedicated birth.  Ended up with an emergency c-section 68 hours after my water broke.  (I should finally write my birth story one day before I forget everything!)

If having a child teaches you anything, it's that you have no idea about things you thought you knew, and that there are plenty of things you don't even know that you don't know.

It's a weird club of which to be a member. Others try to warn you, but you just can't know until you know it and experience it yourself.

All the things other parents say are true. And one day you'll catch yourself staring at that 5 week old and wondering how your sweet baby has gotten so big, so smart, so cute...so fast. Too fast, even. And before you know it those dreaded words will slip from your lips and fall upon the ears of a soon to be parent who just doesn't know what they don't know.

*I am absolutely not "that lady" who rubs random strangers bellies or attempts to pick up your child out of their stroller. If I ever become that lady you have full permission to take me out back and shoot me.

I have a six month old...and a blog.

Wanna know what happens when you learn to function on interrupted sleep for six full months?

Your brain starts playing tricks on you. Suddenly old reliable decides to become a prankster worthy of a Punk'd appearance. Every day is April Fool's Day when you have been sleep deprived for a full six months.

On her half year birthday Aubrey also learned to sit unassisted. I was one proud Mama!

You might recall I decided to mark her big milestones with a photo.

This is where the joke begins.

We take our pictures, post them on Facebook and wait for the comments to come rolling on in!

Congratulate me on my brilliant, beautiful, baby genius. Validate me. Pretty please?

Except, everyone notices something I don't. Smart Mother Michelle put the wrong date. Yup, I somehow mixed up my 6 and 7.

Awesome.

Things that make you go hmmm...

Scratch that, more like things that make me go "What the fudgesicle?!!"

I don't know how to break this to y'all, but here it goes:

Apparently I look straight up INSANE. Like, who let this lady off her meds and out of her straight jacket?

I wasn't aware of this. I have seen myself for 30 plus years, I thought I was just a normal, albeit sometimes adorable, lady. But nope, I must be cray cray.

Surely you must be wondering how I now know this.

I know this, without a doubt, because I have heard the following at least 20 times since Bree was born:

Oh, she's real. I thought she was a doll!

My husband insists that's people complimenting the baby. No Dear, that's people calling your wife a nutty buddy. A compliment would be "She looks like a doll!"

Saying you thought she was a doll means I look like the type of crazy person who would spend hundreds of dollars on a baby carrier or stroller, plus toys, clothes and a diaper bag just so I could walk around town pushing a doll to look like I had a child.

That's a special kinda crazy.

And apparently, my friends, that's what I look like.

Awesome.

The tooth hurts...deal with it.

Or, if you're Aubrey, don't. Don't deal with it, just wake up with your front bottom teeth poking out, cool as a cucumber.  Happy as a clam.  Chilling like a villian.  It ain't no thang, if you're Aubrey.

I can't believe my adorable little baby girl has not one, but TWO teeth poking out of her bottom gums.  No tears.  No miserableness.  No fever.  Just "Good morning mom, I'd like to introduce you to my two new friends, lower incisor A and lower incisor B."

Cute, right?!

Both the baby and the "speech bubble" idea.  Guess where I found that?

Yup, pinterest of course!

I saw it with older kids, and thought it is an awesome idea for a baby!  I just googled speech bubble, found an image that worked and saved it to my desktop.

Now, I can print it out for each of her major milestones and document the time frame and date.  I'm pleased as punch!

And full of terrible idioms today, apparently!

The photo shoot was actually pretty fun.  Bree loves to roll over, so keeping her on her back was like impossible.

So I got a lot of these:

And these:

And these:

Before I finally got this:

So what do you think?  Wanna play along with me?  Love the idea or want to yell at me for stealing from pinterest?

I know a lot of you are still visiting, I see the stats, but c'mon...leave me a comment, por favor!

Too soon?

How early can a child be taught to tell time?

Like 5 months old, right? Please say right.

Pretty please with cherries and sprinkles and hot fudge and hope on top.

I have a four month old...and a blog?!

I have a blog? Oh, yeah! I remember that thing! I also remember sleep, being able to eat a warm meal, peeing alone and taking showers longer than 4 minutes long.

Totally worth it though! Have you seen this super cutie? Let me brag for a few minutes here.

Really, Mom?

And the best news ever?

Thanks to the handsome man below I'm now a Stay At Home Mom!

Of course my main focus will be Aubrey, but I plan on using the time to cook, clean, craft and learning to be the best mom and wife I can possibly be.

All while living in the greatest city in the world, NYC! I'm loving life!

I was born to do this

It's been less than a week since our beautiful baby girl, Little Miss Aubrey, entered the world. After a 68 hour labor, and nothing having gone according to "plan" we finally got to meet her.

I already can't imagine my life seven days ago. All the things I thought were important totally pale in comparison. Everything I need in the whole world fits right in my arm.

Even though we've only just met, there's something so familiar about her. It's like I've always known her.

I've always known I wanted a child. I knew that I had a lot of love to give. I just had no idea how badly I wanted her. She's everything I dreamed and more. She's exceeded every expectation I had about motherhood.

I am so grateful she chose us as her parents. I was born to be her mother.
