Too soon?

How early can a child be taught to tell time?

Like 5 months old, right? Please say right.

Pretty please with cherries and sprinkles and hot fudge and hope on top.

I'm not above using a leash...

On overpriced dog toys that is! Have you had the displeasure of meeting Sophie The Giraffe?

She's a $25 squeaky toy that's made from the sap of the hevea tree.

And apparently baby crack. Seriously, babies adore this thing!

We love Sophie so much we have three. A teething ring for our house, one for the grandparents, and the large squeaky one.

If you're really bad at math, or are my husband, especially let's just say we have a few dollars tied up in doe eyed long neck. So you can understand that I live in a constant state of fear that Sophie will be lost.

The teething rings are awesome because they just hook onto a stroller toy and are free from any pint sized sticky fingers, but the original is a whole other story.

Back up off my Sophie!

Someone from my birth club asked about making a harness for Sophie, and once I looked them up on etsy I realized this was the perfect solution and a super easy craft project! Yay quick and easy!

Gather your supplies:

Expensive dog toy

Ribbon

Velcro

Scissors

Cut the ribbon to size, wrap it like the photos below and viola no grimemeister can take off with your Sophie.

Also your baby can't make you fetch by throwing Sophie backwards in the middle of the crosswalk when the don't walk hand is already flashing and your back already kills from lugging her for the preceding eight hours because she refuses to let you put her down for any naps.

Theoretically, of course.

I have a four month old...and a blog?!

I have a blog? Oh, yeah! I remember that thing! I also remember sleep, being able to eat a warm meal, peeing alone and taking showers longer than 4 minutes long.

Totally worth it though! Have you seen this super cutie? Let me brag for a few minutes here.

Really, Mom?

And the best news ever?

Thanks to the handsome man below I'm now a Stay At Home Mom!

Of course my main focus will be Aubrey, but I plan on using the time to cook, clean, craft and learning to be the best mom and wife I can possibly be.

All while living in the greatest city in the world, NYC! I'm loving life!

I was born to do this

It's been less than a week since our beautiful baby girl, Little Miss Aubrey, entered the world. After a 68 hour labor, and nothing having gone according to "plan" we finally got to meet her.

I already can't imagine my life seven days ago. All the things I thought were important totally pale in comparison. Everything I need in the whole world fits right in my arm.

Even though we've only just met, there's something so familiar about her. It's like I've always known her.

I've always known I wanted a child. I knew that I had a lot of love to give. I just had no idea how badly I wanted her. She's everything I dreamed and more. She's exceeded every expectation I had about motherhood.

I am so grateful she chose us as her parents. I was born to be her mother.

I have a blog? Oh, yeah...I have a blog.

I'd like to nominate myself for the worst blogger ever award.

If one doesn't exist, I'd like to request that someone create such an award and then award me with said award.

Because obviously I am far too lazy to create an award, and even if I did I'd forget to award myself with the award. I'd wake up one day and think "Wow, I suck at updating my blog. I should win the worst blogger ever award. Oh, yeah! I created that award! Wow, I suck at awarding fake awards to myself."

Crafting, eh? Yeah, barely. I remember when I used to have the energy for actual crafting. Now I get about halfway through a project and then forget about it. Or decide I don't feel like finishing it.

I'm totally lying. Mostly I get the idea, get the supplies, and then decide I don't feel like starting it. I've totally lost my crafting mojo.

Wanna see the only project I've even really started?

Don King, The Wreath

It was going to be a lovely tulle wreath like this one from Pattern Shmattern. Instead, I misjudged how much tulle it would take, and didn't want to go back out for more. So I just finished it off by wrapping some leftover yarn. I planned on getting a cute Halloween decoration for the middle and to call it done, but it's been like 3 weeks and I still haven't gotten one. I probably won't.

...

Random Baby Update:

We're having a baby girl! We weren't going to find out, but I'm really happy we did! We're incredibly excited.

Naming a human is hard! There are so many names. Almost too many names. I have no idea how anyone ever decides on a name! I've pretty much accosted every person I know who has ever had a child and asked how they decided.

Any advice blogland?

Love 'em, even if they DO have heads...

If you have a good memory, (or just scroll back a few pages) you might recall I was in love with these vases from CB2:

Personally, I envision them hanging on my bathroom door sans flowers, so they're headless.

I'm a bit warped, don't hate.
-Me, like a few months ago

But then I was wandering around Michaels, and I found these little wooden plaques that were on sale for $1. So I figured I'd save myself $12.95.

Sure, they aren't vases and can't hold flowers. They aren't headless. But I love them anyway.

Plus, it was a nice easy project! Just how I like 'em!

Trace the pattern on the back side of the scrapbook paper, flip over, modge podge and viola.

Now I just have to find the energy to hang them.
